Fearless Hausswolff embraces the darkness

The visionary and organ queen Anna von Hausswolff has toured the world these last few years, both by herself and with other artists. Now, with the release of her much praised album "Dead Magic", she is once more back on stage.

With her signature organ and expressive voice, Anna von Hausswolff has established herself as one of the most uncompromising Swedish artists of today. She had her big breakthrough 2009, when she filled Annedalskyrkan in her hometown of Gotherburg to capacity, during the music festival Way Out West. She released her first album "Singing from the Grave" the year after, which was praised in unity by critics.

With an impressive clarity, Anna von Hausswolff challenges all musical convention and has since her debut in 2010 carved out her own genre. Grandiose soundscapes and dark dramatics are central to her unique musical universe which so far contains four albums. Her third album "The Miraculous" (2015), was recorded on Swedens largest concert house organ in Studio Acusticum in Piteå, an organ featuring 9000 pipes! With an equaly impressive instrument on hand, the much anticipated fourth album "Dead Magic" released in march 2018. This epic was recorded in the majestic Marmorkirken in Copenhagen in the cathedrals turn-of-the-century organ and produced by American producer Randall Dunn, known for his collaborations with bands such as Sunn O))), Earth and Wolves in the Throne Room. In the five song long suite that is "Dead Magic", Anna von Hausswolff allows herself to completely embrace the sounds of darkness. She pushes the boundries of her voice to brink, weaving between singing expressons and techniques, building a suggestive and beautiful work of sound. With the albums lamentations firmly rooted in her back, she now heads out on tour, stopping in Umeå on the 24th of february.
